Quinta do Acude is a 50-acre private estate located in the southern tip of the Herdade da Comporta, Portugal. The main house was built in 1940 and served as a hunting lodge until 1975.
Inside
After a complete restoration in 2008, Quinta do Açude, it now comprises 350 m2 of living space.
Bedrooms
Three spacious bedrooms, each with its own with en-suite bathroom.
Outside
A large, open deck off the living area provides spectacular, completely unobstructed views of the lake below named Açude da Muda, a smaller second deck with view of the naturally arranged garden can be found off the kitchen.
Amenities include including a tennis court (artificial turf) and a large swimming pool (18 meters (60 feet) in diameters and 1.6m (5.2 feet) deep).
Both the tennis court and the pool are immersed in the natural landscape, only a 2-minute walk from the main house, and both have their own thatched-roof covered sitting spaces (cabanas) of 120 m2 (1,290 square feet), each.
In addition, the tennis court has its own bathroom and a small kitchen of 10m2 (108 square feet).

Due to its secluded location, Quinta do Açude, provides exclusive privacy and comfort in one of the most beautiful European landscapes, characterised by unique umbrella pines.
Yet, you are only a ten-minute drive from on of the most pristine beaches in Europe (Praia do Pego & Praia do Carvalhal).

Thanks to the region’s location and its wealth of cultural influences Herdade da Comporta is also an excellent place for fine dining.
You can taste the best that the land and sea of the estate have to offer at a number of high quality restaurants.
Located in Comporta, this building was used previously as a rice factory and was restored in 2006 for tourism purposes.
As you can guess, savoury rice dishes are the speciality. Other than rice, there is a great variety of fresh fish, tasty and tender meat, starters and traditional desserts that make your mouth water. Looking out the window, you can enjoy views of the Atlantic, the sand dunes and the rice fields. Finally, enjoy the evening with a swig of great regional wine.

Pego beach is more and more sought after, as much for its natural beauty as the excellent facilities it offers. The Pego beach restaurant was completed in 2002 as part of the beach requalification, during implementation of the Sado-Sines coastal area plan. This restaurant set within the immense sandy shoreline and with never-ending ocean views, invites you to enjoy local delicacies whilst contemplating your surroundings.
Beaches
Where the land meets the sea 12 Kilometers of crystalline, blue water blending seamlessly with the sky. An endless expanse of clean white sand inviting you to take long walks along the seashore. Along the coast there are 3 beaches classified as bathing beaches – Comporta beach, Pego beach and Carvalhal beach. They are all environmentally certified and have Blue Flag and Accessible Beach quality seals enabling people with reduced mobility to enjoy the pleasures of beach life.
Horse Riding

This spirited and elegant animal has become a symbol of intelligence, sensitivity and wealth throughout the world and today thousands of people, both beginners and professionals, practice horse riding.
Herdade da Comporta is a place that’s perfectly suited to the enjoyment of animal life as well as nature and the creation of a high quality Equestrian Centre aimed at international events and recreational riding was a logical decision. The expansive landscape and ideal location make it the ideal choice for a promising equestrian centre, a centre which has already taken part in several international show jumping events and hosted some of the best riders in the world.

Sado Estuary region is the home of about 30 dolphins, which can be seen by land or by boat on arranged tours
The Roman ruins of Troia, built in the 1st half of the century, took advantage of the wealth of the Atlantic fish and the richness of the salt from the shores of Sado. Its most characteristic component of the workshops is salting tanks where they prepared and preserved fish sauce.
These ruins are located in a strip of sand between the Sado estuary and the Caldeira lagoon.
