Since the 19th century, The Locusts has been playing host to events more grandiose in scale than most could ever dream of today. The centerpiece of the estate, a beautifully restored Neo-Baroque country manor, sits amidst 1,000 acres of untouched national parkland. The private manor home is perfectly perched on the highest elevation that commands breathtaking views of the Hudson River Valley. During the 1860s the estate functioned as a William B. Dinsmore’s gentlemen’s farm, and town center of Staatsburg. They were famous for prizewinning Jersey cattle, butter, and greenhouses growing exotic flowers.

For events, the maximum occupancy is 40 in the manor and for larger occasions there is capacity for 150 in the beautiful barn located on the property. Please enquire for more information.
The newly renovated manor boasts large stately rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows with scenic views, an expansive entertaining room with a grand piano, a study, a gallery and an elevator. There are 10 log fireplaces throughout the property. A conservatory filled with exotic flowers & plants and a state of the art kitchen. The dining room seats 16 guests.

The Property is located 10 minutes South of Rhinebeck & 20 minutes North of Poughkeepsie on Rt. 9.
Train was the method of travel preferred by President Chester A. Arthur when he visited The Locusts in 1884. Today, both Amtrak and Metro North offer service to stations near The Locusts, and both offer equally stunning paths along the east bank of the Hudson River.

Owners seaplane is available for charter and can land directly in front of the manor. Otherwise, the nearest airport is Ulster County Airport; which is 10 minutes away, or JFK, which is 1 1/2 hours away
Private helicopters (upon request) can land in a field beside the house. The nearest heli-pad is Ulster County Airport, Kingston, NY, 10minutes away.
The kitchen is equipped with 2 Professional Viking refrigerators/freezers, Professional Viking stove, ice machine, beverage refrigerator, and ample cutlery, pots & pans. There are 3 large refrigerators available in addition and a small kitchen on the 2nd floor.
