Grândola House

The house is located in the Belém neighborhood, right by the mouth of the River Tagus. The neighborhood is a permanent reminder of Portugal’s Golden era of the Discoveries since it is home to World Heritage monuments, such as the impressive Jerónimos Monastery, built by king Manuel I in the 16th century, in honor to Vasco de Gama's trips to India, or the emblematic Torre de Belém, the most recognizable symbol of the city. The street where the house is located became a preferential residence area for the Portuguese aristocracy in the 18th century, after the earthquake of 1755, and throughout the nineteenth century. The house was built at the end of the XVIII and had major improvements in 1845 (the date is still engraved in the façade’s main balcony). After that the house went through a period of great decay until its present owners acquired it in 2016 and decided to return it to its original splendor through meticulous restoration works (including to the original “frescos” and “azulejos”). 650 m² with a beautiful 250m² grass garden   Sleeps 10 + 4 optional
